The Revolution Is Silent.
How many Eventbrite invites do you get now compared to Luma? Remember Skype to Zoom? Adobe to Figma? MailChimp to Substack?
Figma went from 3% to 57% market penetration in 3 years. Adobe tried to buy them for $20B which was 50x forward revenue. 50x!! The EU blocked it. The incumbent tried to buy the future and the regulator saved them the embarrassment of what came next (82% share price drop if you didn’t know).
The AI revolution will be quieter, faster, and even more devastating.
An 18-year-old with Claude and Cursor will out-ship a 50-person product team. Not eventually. Now. AI doesn't just accelerate execution, it enables fragmentation. A thousand niche products, each perfectly fitted to its audience, built by one person in a weekend.
Our future software will be personal. Often self-built. Styled like clothing, not shipped like infrastructure.
So what's the moat? How do we own a space or differentiate?
Brand is the answer. Which is not a logo, font or colour palette but reputation, taste, and track. Sublime execution gets you in the door, creating ‘brand’ which is why people will stay.
Whatever you're building, lean into both. Hard. Stat!
